Front Rank Russian Jaegers (28mm Napoleonics)
The last of the group of front rank Russians I recently completed. I've previously painted up the Perry version of skirmishing jaegers, and I didn't want to duplicate what I had. I also was intrigued by the musician with the french horn/cornet. Apparently these instruments were not very popular with light troops and often 'lost' quickly.
The posture of these guys are pretty fun. Again, you get a lot of choice from the front rank website. The faces look a bit muddy in these pictures, and the pants might be a tad muddy, but generally I'm pleased with how this base turned out.

They look grand. I like that nice, spacious group base... it has certain allowed you to construct some dramatic positioning.
ReplyDeleteThanks Matthew. I was hoping for a dynamic look of skirmishing. It's pretty squishy on the base with Doug's recommended 8-10 figs, so it's nice to have a justifiction for a few bases with less guys.
DeleteAmazing job, they look wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI think the sculpts help a lot here. They were very easy to paint up, and the action poses give some life to the figs. The tiny bit of yellow helps the jaegers pop a lot more than the red of the other troops. Not sure why....maybe I need a better red.
DeleteAgain, some more lovely looking Russians. The French Horn chap really does add an interesting touch. Skirmishing must be a boring affair if they need music that much!
ReplyDeleteEvery hero needs theme music while they do the slow motion shot....
DeleteI can't decide if being tightly packed in with 200 other guys volleying at short range would be better or worse than being out front pot shot-ing at one another with the threat of cavalry trying to run you down. The lack of mass media must have helped a lot for recruiting young lads to the army.
